Examine your breaker
You can make sure that the breaker has not been tripped for the central air circuit at the breaker box. Some central air systems also have an outdoor electrical box with a breaker or lever switch. It’s a metal or plastic box on the wall near the outdoor fan and condenser unit.
Check the setting of AC
You can see both window and central air units have a temperature control thermostat and a fan just option. Ensure the dial is set to cool or the indoor regulator is set at a temperature lower than the encompassing air temperature of the room. Additionally, ensure that the switch or dial is in the “Cool” position and not in the “Fan only” position.
Melting the Ice
Is your system not cooling properly? Then there may be an issue of iced up into your unit. Melting the ice is a very simple procedure. You can turn off the system and run just the fan that will help to melt the ice quickly or you can just off the unit and let the ice be melt on its own.
Clean the system well
Often the system may just be dirty. Instead of an actual air conditioner repair, the unit may just need to be cleaned. You should clean the fan blades and remove dirt and extra debris from inside or near the unit. You should be very careful when fooling with blades as they are easy to bend and break. Also, make sure the unit is off when you clean it.
